Wales 2018 Diary

The following links will take you to individual days over a 1 week period, which for the first 2 days I spent with Susie, Jessie, Ben & Aimee in Llangollen, and the remainder of the week with Andy in North Wales in 2018. The comments are from my observations.

During 2017, Andy & I had talked about going back to the cottage in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (Llanfair PG for short), we said about asking James and Ray if they wanted to join us. James could not make it and we were having trouble getting in touch with Ray, so we said we would still go and have a relaxing week at the cottage, just going out to various places and taking photos, no real walking days of old!

When it became time to book, we chose September, and wanted any week during that month. I was checking the cottage website for available dates, I came up with 15th to the 22nd of September, I messaged Andy, and he said he would get on and book it. He then came back and said that, that week had been taken and he could get the following week, to which I agreed to, only for Andy to then come back with we cannot get the full week, as the owner had rented the cottage to a friend until the morning of Tuesday 25th September, so instead of having the cottage from Saturday to Saturday, we could only stay from Tuesday 25th to Saturday 29th September (we could have gone the following week, but both said that there was a good chance of poorer weather the later we left it), so we booked those dates.

I booked the whole week off work. I was then talking to Susie about Andy & my disappointment about not having the whole week at the cottage, and she then asked if Llangollen would be out of my way, while going to the cottage (Jessie a friend of ours lives in Llangollen, and we had not seen her for a while). I said it was out of my way, but not by much. Susie then said about me dropping them (Susie, Ben & Aimee) at Jessie's for the week, and pick them up on the Saturday, on my way back. I agreed, saying I didn't mind and it would be good for them to have a break, and also good for Jessie. The following day at work, I got to thinking about it, and when I got home, I came up with a new plan. We would go to Llangollen on Sunday 23rd September and stop in a B&B for 2 nights, until Tuesday, I would then take them round to Jessie's for them to stay there for the rest of the week, that way we could all spend more time together. It was agreed that this was a good idea, so Susie booked us into a B&B (Hillcrest Guest House). We had stayed there in the past, it is a very nice guest house, they do a lovely breakfast.
