Wales 2005

In July 2005, Andy, Ray & I went to North Wales for 2 weeks. We had planned for this for months, doing loads of local walks to get fit, buying any essential kit we required and planning as many routes as we could. We picked our favourite routes and then picked some new ones and on one route we just added to it. We spent many a Friday or Saturday round Andy’s talking over which routes to include; these nights often included large amounts of alcohol! It was a hard task, but someone had to do it! I am still surprised to this day that we actually got to Wales with all of the above completed!

We stayed at our normal cottage, on the outskirts of Llanfair PG (Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch). This is an ideal retreat, yes we are not in amongst the mountains, but we think this is best; it is very quiet there so the days we just wanted to chill out, then we could! Andy came up with the idea of taking his old computer with us, so we could transfer any photos or videos onto it at the end of each day, to free up valuable space on our camera’s memory cards. I had a Fuji Film Finepix Bridge camera, which used to take smartmedia memory cards; these cards only had a maximum memory of 128mb, which did not hold too many photos, so you had to have a few spare. So having Andy’s pc helped greatly. We were also going to keep a diary, which I did to a certain extent, as in I started it, but after a few days I stopped, so a lot of my diary for the 2 weeks is from memory with the following photos as hints.

The following photos are from my camera unless I think Andy’s or Ray’s are better!
