Aysgarth Falls
On Thursday 1st September 2016 I decided to go to Aysgarth Falls in the Yorkshire dales. I found out about the falls by doing an internet search for waterfalls not too far from where I live. The drive took around 2 hours, once I had found the car park and parked up, I paid a visit to the toilets.
Aysgarth Falls upper force taken from the bridge
I headed back through the car park to a footpath at the far end of the car park, this footpath took me down hill and bought me to the road bridge over the River Ure. I crossed the bridge (be careful of cars, as the bridge is part of an S bend), I looked for a decent vantage point to take some photos, after taking the photos, I headed back over the bridge to the footpath. Here I turned left onto the footpath to follow the riverbank towards the upper force. I took photos when I saw the opportunity to do so. I eventually came to an open space at the top of the waterfalls. I spent some time here taking photos from different angles and using different techniques.
Once I had finished at the upper force, I retraced my steps along the footpath all the way back up into the car park. I did not return to my car, I continued to the car park entrance/exit, from here I followed the footpath to the right, then I crossed the road, and then through the gate. I followed the path heading slightly right, this will take you along the riverbank, although you have to look for viewing points to see the middle force, due to the trees.
I continued along the path, to where I found a quite steep way down to s massive slab of rock just past lower force. I made my way up to lower force via the slab of rock and started to take some more photos. While here, a man appeared from another point onto the slab of rock to also take some photos.
Once I had finished taking my photos, I retraced my steps back up the steep slope, and back onto the path, I then returned to the car park. After putting my gear in my car, I headed to the café for a hot drink and a slice of cake. Then I headed home.
On reviewing my photos when I got home, quite a few of them were not particularly good for one reason or another. So, I will be returning at some point to try and get some better photos, I will also set off earlier, so I can spend more time to explore this area.
