Colwyn Bay & Llandudno
Llandudno Pier.
This time round I had the main bedroom, a big double bed and total darkness, so I slept through until around 08:30, I was quite surprised by the time. When I emerged, Andy was already up, and had been since 06:30. I went and got a shower (the shower was lovely), while Andy prepared breakfast (a full English). During breakfast we discussed our plans for today. Andy had borrowed some filters from James, but he needed a connector ring, so he wanted to go to a camera shop in Colwyn Bay. Hence, that would be our 1st port of call, then we would go to Llandudno, to see what photos we could get.

Before leaving I made my normal expedition to the top of the garden to give Susie a call.
Llandudno viewed from the pier.
After breakfast I washed up (didn't use the new fangled dishwasher thingy), then we got our gear together, loaded it into Andy's car and off we went.
We got parked in a shopping centre car park near to Colwyn Bay town centre, then made our way to the camera shop (Cambrian Photographic Ltd). Andy enquired about the connector, but then decided to treat himself to the complete Lee Filters Big Stopper Kit, very expensive! But Andy felt safer using his own rather than using James’s set (due to the cost, if they got damaged/broken). Even then he was nervous of using his own set for the same reason. While being served, Andy asked the sales assistant, if he could recommend places to go and take photos, most of what he came up with Andy had already thought about.
We went back to the car and headed to Llandudno. The last time I had been here, other than in 2005 to go to the cinema to watch War of the Worlds with Andy & Ray, was when I was a youngster with my aunt & uncle (many years ago).
We parked in a car park on the approach to the Great Orme. We got our photo kit out and headed down towards the pier. We wanted to get down underneath the pier to take some photos, but the tide was in, and there was no chance of doing this. It was at this point I took my camera out of my bag, and thought that feels light, I then realised I had left my battery on charge at the cottage! Rookie mistake! Plus, I had not purchased a spare battery. Andy had spare batteries, but they were different to mine. I said "Oh well, not to worry. I will have to make do with my mobile", so we headed down to the promenade. I then said to Andy, "I will go and see if I can find somewhere to purchase another battery". After about a 2-mile round trek, I was unable to find anywhere, so mobile photos were the order of the day.

After my search for a battery, I met back up with Andy on the promenade, who had been taking long exposure shots (there is a wind farm out to sea, and Andy was seeing what sort of results he could get, using his new filters). We then headed back to the pier, where we had a walk to the end of it and took some photos. We then went into a café for a coffee, and so Andy could sort his gear out. As we headed back along the pier, we noticed the tide was on the way back out, although we still could not get underneath the pier to take the photos we wanted to. We decided to head back to the car, once off the pier, we noticed a gap in the wall, leading to some steps going down to a rapidly reappearing shingle beach, so we headed down the steps onto the beach to take some photos. After around 30 or 40 minutes we headed back up the steps and back to the car. As we approached the car, Andy said, “oh look someone has left their baseball cap” to which I replied, “that’s mine!” I thought I had left it in the car while getting our gear out of the car, but I had put it on the rockface while sorting out our gear. Once back in the car, we headed back to the cottage.

For tonight’s evening meal we decided to have a kebab, Andy got on his mobile and using the Just Eat app found a place about 20 minutes away (The Charcoal Grill in Llangefni), it wasn’t the best kebab we had ever had, but it hit the spot. To continue our Star Wars Saga viewing, we watched Attack of the Clones followed by Revenge of the Sith (3 down 7 to go).
Before going to bed I made sure I had put my battery back into my camera.
